Writer Guests of Honor: Tananarive Due and Steven Barnes

Tananarive Due was at Arisia 2011 to collect a Carl Brandon Award for her story "Ghost Summer" in the anthology "Ancestors". We enjoyed her energy and enthusiam so much we wanted her to come back.  Her husband, Steven Barnes, is better known in science fiction circles, starting with Dream Park (with Larry Niven) and continuing on to write many more books as well as television screenplays and novelizations. Barnes is also a martial arts expert and a writing coach. Tananarive Due and Steven Barnes have collaborated with Blair Underwood on the Tennyson Hardwick mystery series.

Artist Guest of Honor: Roger Dean

He's most famous for the cover art of art rock bands, and in particular, his distinctive look is most associated with the band YES. But he has gone on to do other work, publishing three books under the Dragon's Dream imprint. In addition to fantasy illustration, Dean has imagined futuristic architecture and furniture design that's influenced other artists and designers. Dean is another international artist for us, coming from the UK. A gallery of his work is available online. He has designed a custom T-shirt for Arisia which can be ordered in advance and picked up at Arisia.

Musical Guests of Honor: Emerald Rose

The band Emerald Rose, who are Brian Sullivan, Arthur Hinds, Larry Morris, and Clyde Gilbert. Emerald Rose have a blend of celtic and folk rock influences, both traditional songs and original work. They'll likely mix in some steampunk-inspired new work and sea chantey or three. Brian, Arthur, Larry, and Clyde are engaging performers who enjoy their Atlanta area fans and look forward to braving the cold to come make some new friends at Arisia. Listen to some of the their music.

Debrief moved to Sun 2-17 Westin Waterfront

Due to the impending blizzard, the debrief is moving to the evening of SUNDAY, FEB. 17, at the Westin Waterfront, in a function room on the Harbor level. We're still trying to pin down the exact room and time, likely near 7pm.

Lost and Found

If you lost anything at Arisia, call the Westin hotel at (617).532-4600

Their Security department maintains a Lost-and-Found department. They have over 100 items that were turned in over the weekend. If they haven't yet found it, call back in a few days.

They'll keep "high-value" items for a year, everything else, they'll keep for 3 months.
